2018 KSD Recognition Award Announced
On November 1 at the Kelsey School Division’s annual long service award night, Mr. Strinni Reddy was announced as the 2018 recipient of the school division’s Recognition Award.
KSD was the first Canadian school division that Mr. Reddy and his wife Emelia taught at after arriving from South Africa via Zambia and London, England. He moved his family to The Pas in 1971 and initially taught Grades 7-8 at Mary Duncan Junior High and Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute. From 1973-75, he was the Vice-Principal at Opasquia School, and was the principal of Kelsey Elementary in 1976-77.
Mr. Reddy eventually became the superintendent of Frontier School Division. In retirement, he continued his work with disadvantaged students in Winnipeg’s inner city and established education support programs for South African students that continue to this day. In 2016, he was presented with the Order of Canada for these efforts.
